What can we do as the supportive adults in our children's lives to strengthen their social & emotional well-being and academic abilities? AAGT’s 2019 Parent Institute is a half-day event geared towards the needs of Arizona’s parents and caregivers of gifted and talented children. Come to the AAGT Parent Institute to connect with parents who share your journey and to glean tips and insights for working with your gifted children. Student enrichment classes are offered for an additional cost. Proceeds from this event will go to the host district to support their gifted education programming.
NEW this year are the launch of SENG Parent Groups. Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) Model Parent Groups bring together 10-20 parents of gifted and talented children to discuss such topics as motivation, discipline, stress management and peer relationships over a period of six weeks. The co-facilitators of these groups are knowledgeable about parenting and educating gifted children. However, they do not attempt to give expert advice. Instead, their facilitation provides a non-judgmental and nurturing atmosphere. SENG Model Parent Groups and the SENG childcare session are an additional cost. The cost of the SENG Parent Group includes the first meeting on September 21st, the *five additional meetings in the Deer Valley Unified School District, as well as the cost of materials. The cost of the SENG childcare session includes childcare for only September 21st.
*The Deer Valley SENG Parent Group will continue to meet Wednesday evenings, September 25 - October 23 at 6:00 pm at Sonoran Foothills School.
